2006 in REVIEW
Well it's now 2007 so it's time to sit back and reflect on the last year.
How would I rate it in the scheme of things? It was a solid year, couple of almosts and plenty of changes.
My biggest change was definitely my job change. I entered the exciting world of data warehousing consulting. It was a job that was almost a year in the making. I'd scoured and had many interviews before I got the job. It suited me on many levels. The pay is good and the location is one I longed for - back in the city. It's been 4 yrs since I last worked in the city and I desperately wanted out of St Leonards. It was a sad day leaving my beloved friends at Cognos but my new role bang smack in the heart of the city has been nothing short of exciting and eye opening.
I've managed to stay very fit and healthy this year. I've always been and always will be a fitness freak so it's not hard for me to motivate myself to get my a$$ to the gym or go for a run. In fact, I still thrive on it. Nothing is more important than your health. Though I'm looking for some new fitness challenges in the new year to mix things up.
We won our touch final this year which was great. We had to beat the 3rd, 2nd and top teams to get the mixed title and we did it. Was really proud of the team effort. These sorta team sports reinforce why I love sports so much because the feeling you get from an accomplishment is something money cannot buy.
I've always been a good saver and managed to get all my finances in order in 06. Mortgage savings , personal savings is all looking healthy. Looking for opportunities to invest a bit more in 07.
I've never been a big traveller but want to do a bit of travelling in 07. UK and
maybe the US are on the agenda.
The Bulldogs were so close and yet so far to the GF. We led 20-4 against the broncos in the major semi and were all over them. I was high fiving strangers and was looking forward to wearing my jersey to work on GF week. Nothing beats GF week if your team is in the big one. Suffice to say, we capitulated and history says Brisbane are the 06 NRL premiers. One of the worst nights of the year.
Went to the snows for the first time. It was a good albeit tiring experience. Tiring cause everything was crammed into 2 days. But I got a chance to try snow boarding and it was tough. I shoved a towel down my pants on the recommendation of some seasoned friend skiers. It still hurt. I ached for days after. Next time I would like to stretch it over a few more days.
The ego took a big battering in the personal life stakes this year. When things don't work as expected it can play with your mind a lot. You live, you learn and you move on. But the future looks bright......
