SAYING GOODBYE IS HARD

Today was my last day at Cognos after nearly 4 years. It was a hard day for me because the guys here are like family. We had our last lunch together at the Cabana bar and when it was time to say goodbye, I became a blubbering mess. I thought it would be ok but when the realisation came that this really was the end then the emotions took over. We vowed to stay in close contact and I will keep my word.
I hate goodbyes, but then again having the chance to say goodbye is one of the most important things.

I had a really vivid dream about my grandmother who passed away recently. She would always tell me how proud she was of me and when she passed away in Vietnam I never got the chance to say goodbye. I've been thinking about her recently and how I wish I visited her more when she left our place to live with my aunty close by. She really loved my brother and I. My brother and I used to share a room at our old place. We were about to go to sleep and I could hear my grandmother and I started to talk to her but my brother could not hear her. I told my brother but he couldn't hear her and thought I was crazy cause she had passed away, but then she called for him and he could hear her....

It's hard to say goodbye and it's hard not to say goodbye.

HeartBreak........

I'm still in denial. The fact that my beloved bulldogs will not be there for the big one is a lingering pain that will not subside. It's only that the dragons did not make the GF that the pain is bearable. The nite started well as a bunch of us started off with a feed at Harry's before we walked to the stadium. At this point, confidence was high. The Bulldogs giant backrowers would prove too skillfull for the Brisbane pack. And as the match kicked off, this was the case. The dogs forward were too big and the Brisbane players were lucky to be 14 behind at halftime. At this point I was jumping outta my seat, high fivin strangers. I was planning the week ahead, thinking about decorating the office at work with blue and white streamers, posters etc, the whole shebang. I was not prepared for the nightmare that was to ensue. I'm sure everyone knows what happened and the flood of sms's of mates givin it to me only enhanced my pain. It was one of the worst nites' of my life.

Apart from Friday's misery the rest of the weekend was great. Thy invited us over for dinner and put out a fine 'sukiyaki' spread for us. It was sensational and watching the Dragons go down made the nite sweeter.

Today, boy it was hot! We organised a meet at centennial park for some touch footy fine tuning. It was a great day but dayum it was hot. I think I went through 3L of fluids. There were these little kids who kept running off with our markers and then their parents took our markers to put sand in them apparently. B@stardos!

5 days to go til I leave Cognos. Exciting but yet sad times.........

WHERE WERE YOU

5 years since 9/11 . One of those moments where you distinctly remember what you were doing. It was late at nite and I was watching the boxing doco "When we were kings" on SBS when a newsflash interrupted the program informing us of what happened. I couldn't believe my eyes. I went to sleep in the midst of what was happening and woke to total mayhem. I'll never forget that day. I still remember being glued to the TV at work all the day after. The city was empty. It's one of those things you never forget, ever.......

On a brighter note, go you might DOGS!!!!!!!!!!! The boys and I headed down to Telstra stadium on Sat nite to watch the dogs defeat the Raiders. I tell you what, the rain was torrential. Even with a poncho, half my jeans were soaked. But it was worth it in the end, a unique experience having never been at the footy in those conditions before. One more win and the GF baby, one more........
